Of my ten plus stays at VRBO's over the years, this was by far the worst stay I have had. It started when the owner texted the welcome information and asked me to park on the right hand side of the driveway when I showed up. When I arrived, there was a car already parked on the right hand side. I found parking and then proceeded to access the studio but couldn't open the gate (a previous visitor experienced a similar issue) to get in. I rang the door bell but received no answer. I tried the gate again but couldn't open it. I then called the owner but received no answer. I did leave a message stating my issues with the gate. I went to grab some dinner and texted the owner hoping to get a response. Nothing. I continued to wait and after two hours of getting no response and not being able to access the studio I drove to a nearby hotel to secure a room. I finally got a call back from the owner explaining how to open the gate. I returned to the house and was able to get into the studio. I greatly appreciated that he had set up a portable AC unit because it was extremely hot during my stay. The AC unit was vital in keeping the unit cool, but also masking the noise from upstairs. This is a basement studio and you can hear people walking around upstairs at all hours of the day and night. In fact, on both nights of my stay, when I had turned the AC unit off, I was awakened at 2:00 am with noise from upstairs. On the second morning wake up someone dropped something quite loud right above my head. If you are a light sleeper like me, this is NOT the place for you. In addition, the bed is a NOT a queen and cannot sleep two unless you are quite small. The wifi password that was provided was incorrect and there was no (cable) TV service as stated. Bottom line: there was a lot of misinformation in the information stated about this property. It is clean and has all of the amenities and because I wasn't there a whole lot, it was bearable. However, I would never stay here again and wouldn't recommend this to any future travelers.

Hi Keith, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry to hear that you experienced a couple of issues. We accurately advertise this as a basement apartment, but we apologize if this caught you off guard. We followed up with the homeowner, who would like to share this response:
I'm sorry that your stay was not to your satisfaction. We strive to make everyone's stay as comfortable as possible, as is evident by all other reviews. We will look into the matter and work hard to address any concerns.
This place was adorable, priced right, and in a nice location. However, I have 2 complaints. 1. The bed is NOT a queen, it's a full. My husband is over 6 and a half feet tall, so this was definitely a problem. I would never have booked here if I had known it wasn't at least a queen. 2. It was noisy. Every time someone used water upstairs, we could hear it downstairs in the basement.

I took a gamble on a cheap new rental with few reviews and I lost. Some things are bound to get better as the owners learn the process, but somethings can't be changed due to design of the house. I would not stay there again. The only good part was the host. He was very nice. He gave me his cell number and said I could text him 24/7 if there were any issues. Neighborhood seemed safe. Gate to house confusing to open. There should have been instructions sent on how to open it. The Wi-Fi password was wrong in the welcome info that was given to me.The bedding wasn't washed. At least the thin blanket on top of the bed hadn't but maybe the sheets had been. There was animal fur all over the blanket. There was still trash in the bathroom trashcan. Not a big deal but again it felt like maybe the unit hadn't been cleaned in between customers. The bed was uncomfortable. It is a mattress on wooden slates that creak. My back hurt when I woke up. FYI The bed is only a full size, not a queen. That might be an issue for some people. The unit above you has wood floors and there were several people walking around with shoes on. Very noisy so bring ear plugs. The water pipes are very loud when you or the upstairs people use the water. There is a couch that reclines a little for watching TV. That was nice. Be aware it is a small, love seat size and not big enough for someone to lay sideways on. The use of one parking spot in the driveway was good. Don't plan on being able to park on the street. It is very limited and rarely available. (But there would be no need for more than one car since the apartment is designed for a single person)The ad said "Step-free access". If you are older or unsteady be aware the access has a few steps. You park in the driveway (which is a such a steep incline that your door won't stay open on it's own), then you walk across grass, then gravel, then stepping stones down a slopped backyard. There is no hand railing and it can get wet and muddy with rain.

This was a great little place for my three-day visit to my grandson. Very clean, and a great location in the Vancouver Washington area. All my needs were provided for, and I like the private little patio. Definitely would stay again. Ray has a wonderful place.
I had a wonderful experience during my stay. The entrance was private and the studio is quiet, clean, and peaceful. The hosts went out of their way to make sure I had an excellent experience. I would absolutely recommend this studio to others who need a place to stay during their time in Vancouver.
