• Winter & Early Spring Renters Beware

  Unfortunately our stay here was very stressful & disappointing. The road condiitons at Duck Creek Village were treacherous & unsafe. It was extremely difficult to navigate the roads in Duck Creek in our 4 wheel drive vehicles, in fact one if the vehicles did get stuck. Prior to check in we received our instructions which stated a 4 wheel drive OR snow chains are needed However, that was not nearly sufficient enough to navigate the roads. Both a 4 wheel drive & chains should be required. In addition, the winter & spring conditions should be clearly stated in the description. Keep in mind we are from Buffalo, NY. Driving in the snow is not new to us, but the horrible conditns of the road were not manageable. Also, the entry stairway into the house were snow & ice covered. Only a handful of salt was left for us to melt the stairs.Understandably, the owners do not have control over the weather. However, the decent & ethical thing to do would have been to let us know there was 10 + feet of snow in the area - with more on the way. At that point, we could have made the decision if we wanted to proceed. We spent 2 days there & decided it was not safe to stay.We contacted the management company, Evolve, to request a refund for the remaining 5 days. The answer from both Evolve & the owners was no. If it was peak season I could understand, but there were no other renters in the area.

This homeowner has asked us to pass along the following response: "While we empathize with any negative experience our guests may encounter, we, unfortunately, have no control over weather conditions. Utah this season experienced record-breaking snow levels, which made national news. We expect that every guest who books in a rural mountain community has done research on the area and that they can check and monitor the weather conditions in advance of their stay. If cancellation is desired, this would need to be done within the cancellation policy and not two days into a stay. Our listing explicitly states 4WD is a requirement in the winter and that it is not optional. We send multiple communications directly to our guests (which this guest received) to help them prepare for their trip, and we make ourselves available to answer any questions by phone and email. As hosts, we do our best to provide an exceptional cabin experience for everyone who stays with us. However, some things are not within our control."

• Splendor in the Mountains

  Our stay was great, from the first encounter with the hosts, to the last encounter with the hosts. They have provided a very comfortable, cozy, and well stocked home away from home. The location is perfect for visiting both Bryce and Zion National Parks. We bought food items in Cedar City, as there are no close markets to Duck Creek Village. While we were a small party of two, we could attest that the cabin is large enough to accommodate many more. Coming back after hikes in the parks was the perfect end to a day.

  Scattered Pines was an excellent way for my family to unwind with a princess feel. I'm sure there are other amazing home at Duck Creek, but I won't be visiting them.

  SCATTERED PINES is our new favorite place to go. Just a beautiful home!!!!

• Clean and well updated!!!

  We had a great time. Two families total of 9 people. Plenty of room. Clean and well updated cabin. Hosts were always available, nice and helpful!!! The ONLY thing we would change about this property is having the Fire-pit available (unfortunately it was locked for personal reasons) …. Nevertheless, this is a FIVE STAR Cabin and we will definitely come back!!!

  Loved the fireplace and the game room. plenty of storage in the kitchen and the master bedroom was wonderful!
