  • Cute Beach Cottage

    My daughter and I loved staying here for our "escape the long Colorado winter" vacation. It is very comfortable and homey and met all our needs. We spent most of the time on the beach, so it was very handy that the beach was a mere 3 minute walk away. We brought our own beach chairs and beach towels which was good since none were available at the property.

    The kitchen is well-stocked for making meals. The bathroom is nice and has a big shower. The living room has comfortable furniture and is roomy. Both the front and back decks have chairs and a small table to relax and enjoy the views.

    The queen mattress in the second bedroom is ultra firm. The mattress in the master bedroom appears to be a full sized mattress, not a queen. I would recommend replacing both mattresses and putting a queen in the master. Both beds would benefit from better bedding selections, including waterproof mattress covers. Also blankets would be nice instead of just a bedspread.

    I don't recommend this vacation home for anyone who has any type of mobility issues. The stairs to enter the property are a little inconsistent in height and the thresholds at each room have height differences that could trip someone.

    The host, Jake, was quick to respond when I contacted him with questions, which I greatly appreciated.

    This home is a little quirky, but we loved staying here and would stay here again. Galveston has a nice local, family-friendly feel and coming during the off season made us feel like we had the beach to ourselves.

    I recommend Galveston State Park if you enjoy bird-watching or fishing. Waywest Pizzeria has great food, a lot of menu options, and is a family-run restaurant that we enjoyed. Moody Gardens was fun on a day that was a little cooler. We went to the Aquarium and Rainforest pyramids.

    My family and I stayed 5 days we will definitely be back! We had a blast! We are far enough away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the peace and quite! But close enough to enjoy ourselves but still go and have fun! We will definitely be back this is our new yearly family vacation spot.

  • Disappointed

    Location was fantastic. House left a lot to be desired. Clean inside, but several items in disrepair and lacking daily essentials. Had to purchase laundry detergent, hand soap, dishwasher pods, sponges and kitchen cleaning items. Broken golf-cart with beach toys left at property, open electrical junction boxes.For the price, would have expected more.
