  • Overall okay house BUT..

    Overall the house was okay. The stairs inside the house are extremely steep. Not a big deal if you are not taking small children or pets. The bottom landing where the stairs turn had no railing so if someone falls there is nothing to catch them. Our dog fell down the stairs and so did one of our children. This led us to use the baby gates in the upstairs closet to help keep them off of the stairs. However, the baby gate for the top of the stairs did not even connect all of the way and would swing open if you even breathed on it. There were two chairs to take to the beach which is fine but one of them is broken. The gas grill is also broken which again is not a big deal as long as you know that before going and buying groceries to cook out. It has propane but will not ignite. The combination lock on the back fence also does not work so plan accordingly when you return from the beach so you aren’t dragging sand through the house. The location is good but the neighborhood is not really what we expected.

    Hi Jessica, we’re so glad you enjoyed the location, but we’re sorry other aspects fell short of expectations. After sending your comments to the owner, they’d like to share the following:
    - Thank you for your feedback. You've given me some great maintenance tips to look into. For example, the baby gate and the beach chair. I'll be checking them out right away.
    - Regarding the inside stairs, the home has been remodeled and the stairs are up to code for the age of the home and for the city of Galveston. I'm sorry to see that it caused discomfort for your family.
    - The combination lock works. Instructions for the combination lock are on the fence above the lock. I would've been happy to help you with it if I'd known you were having trouble.
    - Similarly, instructions for the gas grill are on the wall right above the grill. When you texted about the gas grill, I let you know how to light it (it's a natural gas grill) and that instructions for the gas grill were above the grill on the wall, and you responded that you found the instructions and everything was ok.
    - We do consider the location of the house ideal, as its location is less than two blocks from the beach and makes it easy to walk to the beach (you can use the provided wagon for your beach things), ride the bikes on the seawall (8 bikes provided), or visit the strand, pleasure pier, and other Galveston attractions, all of which are nearby.

    A couple blocks from the beach so you can park and walk without having to find parking. Bikes available so you can ride down the sea wall. Close to food and stores. Nothing to complain about
