• Needs improvements! Don’t be fooled by pictures

  House seems decent from pictures and nice size but is misleading how nice it is. The biggest turn off was there are roaches in the kitchen. We saw roach spray under the sink but manager acted completely surprised that there was a problem and blamed the last guests and said they must have brought them in. I literally shook out every single thing for hours when I got home to make sure one didn’t get in my stuff. The dining room table was missing and only had chairs lined up so there isn’t anywhere for a few people to eat together at a table. We had to eat taking turns at the kitchen island that seats 4. The picnic table outside only seats the most 6. He said new dining table was coming next week and again blamed last renters who broke it. The screen in the porch room doesn’t seem to be secure if a child were to lean against it. Whoever cleaned left garbage under the stairs in the basement. It seems just the main floor was mopped. There is debris all under the deck with rusty metal, old futon, etc. Patio pavers in backyard were all loose and not installed properly. Deck railing is loose. In the kitchen there are no pot holders or baking pans so oven wasn’t usable. Would be nice to have seating on front porch and near fire pit. We had to use our beach chairs as there were only logs near the firepit to sit on which had bugs on them. Manager Jamil thought he was smarter than me with an excuse for everything meanwhile it was all lies. He was very nosey with me and asked me so many personal questions before I came that made me uncomfortable. He was rude when I told him the lock box key code was wrong in the check in instructions. He was also rude when I contacted him that the password for the wifi was wrong and he said I wasn’t looking or following his instructions. The wifi didn’t work all week and there is no cable so the tv in basement (only tv everyone could watch) ran off the wifi so we couldn’t watch it. We had to use our cell hotspot/ data for iPads and laptops. I was very disappointed with this house. Maybe a new manager can fix up everything wrong. There was also a pool closed each day to low staffing, 3 of the 4 beaches closed due to eColi bacteria, and the boating was only open on the weekend due to low staffing. For a very expensive vacation for a week, I was very embarrassed to have booked this with family and extended family.

• Fell short- we left a night early

  We have rented houses through VRBO around the world, this is the 1st time I have been disappointed. To start- the listing says 2 bathrooms- it is 1.5 baths. We had 7 people sharing 1 shower; we would not have rented knowing there was only 1 shower. Also the shower drain smelled of septic which was very off putting. The house lists an xbox (that was not there) also listed washer and dryer (those were not working). When families are traveling with water parks and skiing- access to a washer and dryer are important/ a necessity. Prior to coming I asked if linens were included, when we arrived there were 3 toddler blankets for the children who are (6-8 yrs old) and the bunk beds were very unstable so no one could sleep on the top bunks. The kitchen is not fully equipped- there were 4 bowls and 3 spoons, and not enough plates for everyone to eat together. There were also NO coffee cups to drink coffee. This required us to go to Walmart to purchase paper plates, plastic ware etc. Overall the house has potential and would be great in the summer for college kids who like to party but not suitable for families as it stands. In the 10 years of renting houses/ condos, I have never left a vacation early. Some TLC would go along way for this house.

• Beautiful house

  Check in and out was a breeze. The house is beautiful. Excellent location with the stream in the back yard that runs to the lake. You can hear it at night. Very relaxing. Home owner was very responsive. Checked in daily to make sure everything is ok

  Car Permits - I ended up having to pay a late registration fee due to the fact that i was not sent the registration email until the day before our arrival. Unstable stairway - the spiral staircase was not properly stabilized - at least two of the supports were loose and one was not connected at allBroken kitchen trash can Broken futon in the basementBroken door in the basement - the door leading to the outside in the basement was broken and could not be latched properly.Dirty kitchen - every item in the kitchen was covered in grease or just dirty. We had to wash every item prior to use. It was disgusting.House cleanliness - the house overall could use a good cleaning. There was a lot of dust and dirt everywhere.Fireplace - the fireplace insert was not properly secured. Smoke poured out of the bottom of the unit and the fireplace was not usable.Front door knob - the front door knob was broken.The home owner arrived at our home on Saturday night and walked in, unannounced. This caused several of the children to be afraid that strangers would be walking in to the house at any time. Two of the children were not able to sleep on Saturday due to this fear. This basically ruined the entire trip. Not only was this completely inappropriate, I believe it is illegal.

  The owner was super kind and helpful. Even the people at the community center tried to make it as easy of a process as possible even after I registered late.
