We booked for 4 nights with 2 families and were forced to leave a night early because the smoke detector/fire alarm ring system would not stop going off. While on a day trip to Tahoe, we got a call from the property manager at around 110pm asking if everything was okay because the fire alarm system was going off, we told her we weren’t home and hadn’t been home since 930am and weren’t sure why it would be triggered. She then asked if we cooked anything or left anything plugged in and besides some scramble eggs at 8am and your normal chargers we hadn’t. The fire department was dispatched and went into the house and determined it was a false alarm. (Prior to check in our contact told us that the last guests to stay here set off the fire alarm twice in three days because they were cooking and the fire department came both times because they didn’t answer the phone to say there was no fire.) fast forward to around 8 that same night, we were putting our 3 young kids to bed and the fire alarm went off again, we answered the call saying it was a false alarm no need to send fire department (we hadn’t cooked at all except for the eggs in the morning) the fire department shows up for the 2nd time that day, and says even tho we answered the call and said no fire, we had no authority and the home owner had to give a code to tell them not to come. The fire department guys who were extremely nice said this was a common occurrence at this house and they had been called probably 10 times since Christmas while they were there checking out the house I was on the phone with our contact getting the alarm shut off, she mentioning it could be carbon monoxide and we should open some windows, so now we’re worried about that and the fire department checks to make sure there is no carbon monoxide issues and while they are doing that the alarm starts again and this time doesn’t stop, we are in contact with our host but they have no answers for us their only suggestion was to unscrew one of the detectors that could be faulty. Our kids at this point are scared and have to go out to the car so I unscrew the detector and turn it off and the alarm continues to blare. We have no answers and figure if they can’t stop the alarm we have to leave, their only other suggestion was to unscrew all the alarms in the house. So we pack up asap, try and book a hotel and everything in Reno is sold out. We have to drive to Carson city and get two rooms there for more money. Do not recommend!!
