Beside the “hill” it was good. My husband come up a his bike and alittle more understanding of what the hall was would have been great, maybe a picture would have been wonderful. The last night we start cooking and the gas ranch won’t light, we figured out how to cook dinner so we won’t have to go out again.

Place was all on its own with no neighbors, very roomy, and had tons of windows/patio doors for a lot of natural light. Kitchen was well stocked with a huge six burner stove. Has a large porch with a screened in section. You can hear some road noise outside from the highway but its also really convenient to an exit.

  • Beautiful setting but misleading

    2/5

As the first family to stay at this property and leave a review I feel I must be completely honest and give a detailed description of our experience. First, the property manager was excellent. She was entirely communicative and responsive. It was also an absolutely beautiful setting. The home is at the top of the mountain and has almost panoramic views. With that said there were definitely things that should have been better stated in the property description. First, because we were only staying for a couple of nights we did not have everything with us for an extended stay, such as laundry detergent. There were no extra blankets and the blankets on the beds were very thin. There was no trash can upstairs at all, so even in the bathroom we had to carry our trash downstairs. There were no cleaning products at all to clean tables or counters, so when I made bacon for breakfast I had to clean up with just a paper towel. There was nothing to wash dishes with (sponge or cloth), so I used my hand and soap. The internet was in and out, and the tv did not stream well. Also, there is not much in the way of things to do unless you drive about 20-30 minutes. The closest place to get any type of food was about 25 minutes away. If you don't mind driving that far you'll be fine. The most important thing in my opinion was the driveway. Treacherous is an absolute understatement. There was nothing listed in the property description about needing 4 wheel or all wheel drive, and even with one of those types of vehicles I think the drive up is extremely dangerous. At no point were we told that we needed one of these types of vehicles, even after communication with the property manager. We saw a short blurb about needing 4 wheel or all wheel drive in the check in instructions about 10 minutes before we arrived. We were in a mini van with our five children. Once you start up the driveway there is almost zero opportunity to turn around. The gravel is loose and very slippery. The last 300 feet of driveway is "paved," but the concrete is almost worse than the gravel in how slippery it is. It is the steepest driveway I have ever seen in my life, extremely windy, and has nothing to stop your vehicle from going over the edge of the mountain. We barely made it to the top. For the duration of our stay we parked at the bottom and walked up. If you were not in good shape the walk up would be impossible. Overall, staying here again for our family would be an impossibility.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Kelly, we're sorry your stay fell short of expectations. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
    - The listing does state that a 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is required, but we are sorry if this caught you off guard. We encourage guests to thoroughly review the listing before booking to ensure they find the perfect vacation home for their needs
    - The listing also includes the proximity to surrounding areas and a map with a general overview of the location
    - The secluded mountaintop location is part of our property's charm, but, unfortunately, that means the internet can occasionally be slow
    - The wind level up on the mountain is a factor outside our control, but we apologize that it impacted your stay
    - We'll ensure there are enough trash cans, cleaning supplies, and blankets at the property. The blankets we currently have aren't thin, but we apologize that you weren't fully comfortable during your stay
Thanks for leaving a review as we continue to improve for our future guests!
