  Captain Mikes place is the perfect getaway spot if you like quiet, nature and fishing. Accommodations were very nice and has everything you could ask for. We will definitely be returning. The only problem was we had to leave!

  Great location, not near the beach(easy drive but need permission for beach access)but on a canal which is well-maintained and looking out to a marsh, peaceful and quiet. Good beds, well-equipped and comfortable furnishings. The owner was very kind with quick communication. There is a porch between the main house which worked out well when the 2year old had to take a nap or go to sleep. Would definitely come back.

  Enjoyable place. The main drawbacks are the super slow internet and the fact that there is no cable TV. If you want to watch something you must have your own streaming service and even if you do, it takes forever to find it due to the slow internet. I thing the owner went too cheap on this one.

  Yes, the views at this property and the tranquility of area were lovely! However, the house itself did not line up with the pictures. Unfortunately, the home was not totally rental clean when we arrived (crumbs, dust, etc), particularly in the kitchen. The furniture is quite old and stained in the living area and patio, which is not reflected in the photos. We also had issues with bugs (baby roaches, biting ants) throughout the course of the stay. AC in one of the outer bedrooms rattles quite aggressively. Shared bathroom in outer bedrooms had bad smell, rusted tub, and loose plumbing set up in shower. Just a warning, staircase up to loft is extremely steep, so would not be appropriate for young children or elderly. Did not look for the Murphy bed on the breezeway porch between both sides of the house, but it could have been there in the wall. Select doors to outside and to breezeway do not shut properly likely enhancing the insect issues. There was one working television in the living room, and streaming was possible at times with WI-FI speeds. While the price is very appealing for a home this size, unfortunately there were some deal breakers for our family to stay here again despite the views, largely due to the bug issues/bug bites/suitcases invaded by bugs. I understand it’s a bayou, but the insect issue in the home goes beyond a few tree roaches or ants getting inside a window or door.
