Perched above Magazine Street, you'll be near all of New Orleans' favorites in an apartment that feels like home. It’s an exciting New Orleans getaway - charm and Creole included!
Check your calendar and book your New Orleans getaway during the famous Mardi Gras celebrations! New Orleans hosts one of the world's best Mardi Gras parades annually - and this apartment has a first-class seat. You'll have a view of some of the minor parades that pass by on Magazine Street, and close proximity to the nearby streets that host the grand event!
While you can watch the city come to life from the front porch overlooking the street, you’ll want to head downstairs to experience it first hand! You're just blocks away from dozens of shops and restaurants that fill the local Uptown area, and just 20 minutes away from the heart of New Orleans and the French Quarter where the city is alive and buzzing with excitement.
Take a 15-minute walk down Magazine Street to reach the beautiful Audubon Park. This charming area is home to the Audubon Zoo and Nature Institute, the Tree of Life, Cascade Stables, and a golf course! Walk the Audubon trail for an over-arching tour, where you can stop and visit some of the many historical spots within the park.
From the home, you're just a 10-minute walk to the streetcar line, which can take you to several popular areas throughout the city. Additionally, this home is within walking distance of Whole Foods, so you'll have no trouble picking up all the ingredients needed to whip up that Cajun-inspired meal!
We came in for Mardi Gras and loved our stay above the surf shack. I didn't remember reading in the listing that this was a duplex, so we accidentally walked into the neighbors house when we arrived late Thursday night and almost let their dog out. The layout is shotgun style, as mentioned, so you do have to go through all the rooms den/bedroom/living to access the bathroom and kitchen. Which wasn’t really an issue for us because it was a group of 4 girls and we’re all very close, but wouldn’t probably be the best set up if you’re traveling as couples. The pull-out couch is in the room between the bedroom and kitchen/bath so if you are using that for sleeping just know there will be traffic to get to those rooms. You could put the provided air mattress in the front room, but there aren’t drapes to cover the windows & door in the front room so not much privacy and would be super bright in morning. I think if the property owner put a curtain rod up in there, it would make a great place to have as a sleeping area. The back yard, patio area is super cute and huge. A great place to relax and enjoy a cocktail or beer with friends. The only complaint was that the neighbors dog had pooped several times so make sure and watch your step. I found out the hard way while looking for the trash bins as we were cleaning up and checking out. Other than that the house, itself, was impeccable, great decor, comfortable bed, cool decor, and PHENOMENAL location. Street parking was easy to find within a block of the house day or night, even during Mardi Gras. Definitely would recommend for a girls trip or for a couple looking for a getaway.

Overall things were nice and the location was great-2 blocks to our daughter's home. We did have a big leak under the bathroom sink-water all over floor-management sent handyman next day. WiFi was tricky-handyman got it running. Inside shower curtain not cleaned-soap scum and mold I had to clean off. The kitchen was very nice.

Everything was great and accurate to the listing. My only complaint was the pullout sofa in the 2nd room. VERY uncomfortable. Best not to use that as a second bed if you want a good nights sleep.
