The home was top notch, very nice, clean and well updated. Unfortunately, it is located in a bad area of downtown and did not make us feel safe. Listing advertised garage and driveway parking, which we specifically searched listings for when looking in the downtown area. The house doesn't have a driveway and the garage was "under construction" and unavailable during our stay. These would have been nice things to know ahead of time, rather than after checking in. The neighborhood was anything but quiet...barking dogs, loud music and a train track running through the neighborhood makes for difficulty sleeping. The A/C wasn't working, so we had to leave the windows open, which made these noises even more loud/frustrating.
The owner did offer to let us cancel our stay when the A/C wasn't working, but unfortunately there was a convention in town and nothing else was available. We lived through the experience and nothing was stolen or vandalized, but it was definitely disappointing.
Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your experience, Lori, we are so glad you found the home to be clean and updated. We want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
-We do have a driveway on the side of the garage for parking and the garage access has now been removed for access on the listing, we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused
-Although we work hard to provide a great environment for all guests, external factors such as city life are simply out of our control. As the home is located in the Downtown area we cannot guarantee neighborhood noise will not be heard throughout your stay
-We are happy to report the A/C unit was fixed that same day, we appreciate your patience as we worked to remedy the issue
This homeowner works hard to create a memorable experience, and as is evidenced by the many great reviews we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests!
Always a bit nervous when booking a home to stay in; will it be as lovely as the pictures and descriptions, or will it be disappointing and disastrous- I’ve experienced both. This was the first time using Evolve to book a home stay and the experience was impressive from start to end. The hostess (more like personal concierge), Shanea was amazing. You can expect that she will check in with you before, during and after your stay; she truly wants you to have an enjoyable experience and makes herself available 24/7.
The Area: Many areas of Indianapolis are being revitalized, so there is a mix of newly remodeled and beautiful homes alongside homes that need improving. Pulling up to the home we could see other homes that needed to be revised as well as homes that were under reconstruction so initially we were concerned about the surrounding area but quickly realized that many working families live in the area and the nights were quiet and boring. Overall we found this home to be in a safe area conveniently located near downtown Indianapolis.
The home: I loved the layout of this home. Open and spacious. Large double decks facing a safe very pet friendly backyard. Super clean-everything in this home looked and felt brand new.
The Kitchen: If you enjoy cooking you will be inspired by this beautiful well appointed Kitchen w top notch appliances. We used everything from the ice maker to the oven and gas range. Very nice. Very clean.
Upstairs: Perfect for playing games, watching movies and hanging out. Im a night owl w sleep issues and despite the cold nights my fav night space was the 2nd level deck. The deck is large and has a very nice covered seating area. I expected to hear more city noises than i did. It was quiet and peaceful.
The Beds- So comfortable. Wow.
We had an amazing time at the property. It was perfect for our family of six! The added games were a bonus. The owners were very responsive. The only downside was it is right near a train track and the trains go through all hours, but it didn’t really impact us in a negative way.
