Positives:
It was affordable. You are centrally located, near the beach, near Florida/Alabama border, and grocery stores.
You have a small kitchens with small appliances, so you can fix some affordable meals.
Negatives:
1. So the pictures of the chairs on the water are misleading. You are roped off from the water front. It's kind of a shared area, the upstairs people getting the water front. Your upstairs neighbors will make or break your stay.
2. You hear every foot step from the upstairs tenants. You also hear the sanitary down pipe from them flushing or showering.
3. Cock roaches came in the door at night. I killed three, two were massive. I hope they weren't inside already.
4. The washer and dryer are extremely small and the dryer barely works.
5. The floor is very abrasive, our toddler did toddler things and fell forward a few times scraping her shins and knees.
6. You are extremely close to the beach BUT you have to cross a 45mph road that is always busy and there's not really a shoulder to give you space. There's no cross walk to the closest beach entrance. You can drive to beach parking and pay. I think you can park at the visitors center close by and there is a cross walk there.
7. Toilet and shower are up on a platform. Be careful during a night time bathroom visit. It's also not great for a toddler as the floor is abrasive concrete.
If you're young, it's just you and bae, and you're on a budget. This will work.
If you're anything else I would put up more money for a nicer place and look else where.
Hi John, we want our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we apologize that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the owner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- We're sorry for the confusion with the ropes on the property. Per the guest guide in the unit, the area on the water is a shared space and the ropes are meant to assist with privacy. They keep other guests from getting too close to your unit during your stay. The guest guide also includes detailed information about the two free walkways to access the deeded neighborhood beach, both within walking distance - one of which is still under construction following hurricane Sally, but the closest is open and functioning. Additional information in the guide includes where the house is located, the beach access point, the tennis courts, and fire station/visitors center.
- A non-slip coating was recently applied to the floor to ensure safety when water is tracked inside from the deck.
- Although we try our best to provide a great environment, sometimes external factors like the noise from the neighbors are simply out of our control, but we apologize if this impacted your stay.
- We wish you had reached out to the Guest Contact during your stay regarding the pests. We would have done everything we could to resolve this immediately so that you could properly enjoy the home. Although it is undesirable, sometimes when it rains outdoor pests will try to migrate indoors.
Thanks for your valuable feedback as we continue to improve for future guests!
