  We stayed here when Ian hit the west coast of Florida. There was a bit of an issue checking in, as it was somewhat complicated with the elevator fobs (someone didn’t return the one for our unit into the lockbox). It took a bit of scrambling, but we located another fob to get into the elevator. The instructions also said that there were two separate codes for the entrance doors (turns out there is only one). Once we were inside the unit, all was good. It was clean and neat, and well appointed. The washer and dryer was a huge bonus. We never lost power the entire time, despite the wind really blowing outside. The building is a bit older, so it had some leaks and a musty smell in the hallway. They need some work on the common areas. The unit itself is renovated nicely and was comfortable.

• The good and not as good

  When we arrived to our room it was in a cute European villa. The common area between our room and another had a musty smell. The wifi was down and the thermostat was not working. This was swiftly corrected when we were offered another , nicer room. During the stay a cleaner came into our room unannounced and stood there as we woke up from a nap, our dogs were very close to running out the door. After checkout we were charged an extra cleaning fee because the cleaner had a quick turn around between guests. We left 2 hrs before checkout. I am not sure why the cleaner having a quick turn around was my problem. I would say this stay had some good but needs some improvement.

  - The homeowners were surprised by your feedback, as the thermostat is new and working perfectly. They are sorry if you had trouble with it.
  - The room is freshly cleaned before all arrivals, and no odors have been identified, but we apologize if the building had a musty smell.
  - The extra fee charged was actually the pet fee. We note on the listing that the property is pet-friendly with a fee, and as you did not pay it beforehand, we collected it after your stay.
  We appreciate your feedback and will continue to work hard to provide a five-star experience for all future guests.
