I rented this house for 5 Days in December, the house was very nice on the outside. The location was easily accessible from off I95 and was close to shopping, grocery stores and the beach was only 5 miles away The house was pretty clean on the inside and was pleasantly decorated. The pool was great and we opted to have the pool heated. No one complained that the pool was cold so all good there. Esthetically, the house looked pretty nice and was what I was expecting from the pictures.
Now here are the issues we had during our stay, I will start by rooms.
The single bedroom by the garage: this room was sufficient in size and had adequate closet space. The curtains were not wide enough to close to cover the window. The bed in this room was the worst in the house, it was basically a box spring with a 2 inch foam topper on top. It was hard as a rock and hard to call a bed.
There is a bathroom by this single room. It was a 3/4 bathroom that was clean and functional. The shower had a sliding door and that was it. So one side of the shower was always exposed.
The bunk bed room was large in size and had an additional futon. I do not expect much out of bunk bed mattresses and that a good thing cause these mattresses were not even 3” thick. The futon was actually more comfortable than either bunk bed and the first bed mentioned above. The window coverings in this room were just ok, they were pretty transparent letting in a lot of light when closed. There was plenty of closet space here as well.
The other bedroom that is on the other side of the bunk bed room actually had a very comfortable bed. And curtains that fully covered the windows. No complaints here.
The bathroom that these 2 bedrooms shared had 2 separate rooms with toilets and doors connecting them together. The bathrooms were very functional. The shower curtain rod fell and did not function as it should, it was internally broken, I was able to eventually get it back up but it needs replacing.
The master bedroom was beautifully laid out and looked like it would be the best room in the house. Until you sat on the bed and all it did was squeak whenever you moved. There is no chance of being intimate on this bed without the whole house knowing. Very unacceptable. The room was big and had a large closet. The ceiling fan in this bedroom did not work. The en-suite bathroom was nice with a shower and a separate bathtub and dual sinks. The towel rack on the wall came off one day cause it was not attached properly.
The living room was fine and functioned great with a nice TV and had cable and Netflix. The kitchen looked good and had a mixture of pots, pans and dishes to function as it should. The appliances worked as expected with the exception of the ice maker not working. There was no pizza cutter to be found either.
The pool area was great with plenty of seating, some lay down chairs would be a nice addition. There were 3 large sliding doors that led to the pool area, one each in the master bedroom, living room and kitchen - only the kitchen one would open to the pool. The grill did not work well, after messing with the connections for about 15 minutes, I finally got it to work. The grill would only work at half capacity, and would not reach a temperature of higher than 300 degrees. I basically had to bake my cheeseburgers for a half hour.
The water pressure was not great in the whole house and the temperature was not the best either. Do not attempt to take a shower when the dishwasher is going, you will end up with shampoo in your hair until pressure goes back up.
Every bed in the house had a mattress pad, sheet laying on top of that and then a comforter or 2. None of the had fitted sheets or standard pillows with cases, they all had pillows with sham cases on them.
There were towels supplied but 2 of them had fuzz issues when you dried off with them and there was no way you could distinguish between beach towels and bath towels.
Alex, we're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay at this home. The homeowner would like to note that the curtains in the first rooms are from wall to wall. The owner wishes you would have reached out regarding your complaints of the mattress as they have an additional mattress available. The owner looked into your concern about the shower curtain rod and can confirm it's working well and not broken. Regarding the master bedroom bed, there was a small metal part under the bed causing the noise, since your stay this has been addressed. The master bedroom fan is also working well and ready for guest-use. Unfortunately, the ice maker in the fridge is not connected but there is a mode for ice that guests can choose to turn on. The owner appreciates the suggestion of a pizza cutter, and since your stay has added one to the kitchen. Because this owner prioritizes the safety of their guests, they've chosen to only have one sliding glass door open to the pool area and they keep the BBQ grill closed, but it is available for guest use. Unfortunately, the issue with the water pressure is an external factor out of the homeowner's control due to the city constraints. Each of the beds in this home comes with European bedding sheets with a flat sheet, two standard pillows with pillowcases, one duvet cover, and two shams. Additionally, the sofas and chairs have small shams. After your stay, the owner agreed that the towels had issues with fuzz, so they replaced all of them. This owner is known for going above and beyond for their guests, and we're confident future travelers will have exceptional stays. Best, the Evolve Team
