The house itself was great and only 2 miles to Purgatory was super convenient. Plenty of space for our group as well. However, a couple issues that we had.
1) The WiFi only “worked”(less than 10mbps) in the kitchen/dining area. So we couldn’t use the projector or TVs in the living room/downstairs as it couldn’t connect. We reached out to the guest contact who said they would address it, but it never got better at any point of our stay. So just a heads up that if you plan to WFH, you might want to look for somewhere with more reliable WiFi.
2) There was lots of leftover food in the freezer, random items in the fridge, and overall just lots of personal items in the home that made it feel like we were in someone else’s space. Everyone had to keep asking ”did we buy this/is this our food?”
3) The porch/patio doesn’t seem to be shoveled/maintained in the winter so you can’t enjoy being out on it or grilling even when you get a nice sunny day unless you wanted to shovel it all yourself. Might be common with mountain homes in Winter?
Overall, the house is great for ski trips and disconnecting from cell service/technology but would have preferred better WiFi so we could have used the other rooms to hang out in and less leftover food in the place.
Hi Zak, we want to make vacation rental easy for everyone, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your stay. After reading your feedback, we followed up with the homeowner, and they wanted to share the following:
"We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our home and the location. We also value all feedback received.
- While Wifi generally does work well, our home is 9,500 feet in elevation with large amounts of snow. Internet reliability can be affected by this. We will continue to ensure that all mesh network devices are connected before a stay. If you're experiencing a connection issue, please check that one wasn't disconnected.
- Our professional cleaners are responsible for removing any excess food. Apologies that this was missed during your stay. We'll follow up with our cleaning team.
- While it is our pleasure to open our home to others to experience Durango, we sometimes stay there too. This is something common to vacation rentals, which is why there are some personal items in the home.
- We'd like our guests to be able to enjoy the deck. Durango recently received unprecedented snow, which makes home services a challenge. The deck will be cleared this week.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review."
Great location, plenty of room, large deck. Only issue was in communication with property manager. Specifically asked about propane prior to our arrival. Tanks were empty so I called, left a message, propane showed up two days late and never received a return phone call. Code for trash area was incorrect, a neighbor gave us the code. No instructions on how to use tv - turned out we had to buy batteries for the remotes. Overall, these issues were minor and we enjoyed our stay - would rent this property again.

We loved our stay at this cabin! The drive up makes it feel secluded and it was comfortable and nice. The beds were comfy and it accommodated all of us. The patio with the string lights was perfect except for the mosquitos. Not sure why there were so many but other than that it was terrific!

The property was exactly as advertised. Located north of Durango and south of Silverton. Also a relatively short distance from Ouray. Homes elevation was approximately 9000 ft and in an upscale neighborhood in the mountains. 5 adults and 4 kids were very comfortable. No air conditioning, but night time temps made it comfortable. Although we didn’t watch TV WE wish their would have been instructions on how to use it. Overall 5 star experience.

Great location and beautiful setting, however, there were quite a few things off. When we arrived the freezer was packed with food, and one item had leaked all over everything, which we had to clean up. A lot of food items were also left in the fridge. We had to rearrange just to fit our small amount of food in. There were dirty towels in the washing machine, towels in the dryer, and a pile of towels and sheets on the laundry room floor. Not exactly what you want to walk into paying this price per night. In general, a lot of personal items left around, assuming by the owners- shampoo in the shower, medicine in the bathroom drawers, food, etc. There was a good amount of dog hair around the couch, carpet, etc. Not too clean at all. Kind of makes you think you just walked into someone else's actual home, and not on vacation.

Hi Michael, the homeowners were surprised to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following: We're glad that you enjoyed the location! We take pride in ensuring the cabin is serviced professionally and prepared for our guests and we're sorry if you were caught off guard by some personal items as this is our personal home. We also apologize for any maintenance issue that impacted your stay. Once we were made aware of them, our maintenance team addressed them immediately on the same day. To ensure efficiency, we are purchasing a freezer for the garage to store any of our food. Thank you for sharing about your stay. We do all we can to make the best possible stay and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
